Question about hit locations
Ok, I know that this has probably been debated to death by now, but I couldn't find any info using search, so here's my question: does the Absorption rune actually effect only the armor that it's attached to?
I honestly don't think it does. Granted, it's the only rune that even could be like that, but I like to look at some of the facts when I think about this. One point is the way other runes work. If you have only 1 type of rune that works via hit location, you have to have a seperate line of code for just that rune. That's pretty heavy in a program like Guild Wars. Also, if the Absorption runes give damage reduction at +1, +2, and +3 respectively, why is it that they would only effect one location when a +2 Reduction shield will reduce damage globally?
Has anyone actually tested having various Absorption Runes in their armor? I'd like to see the results of that if they have done that.

The rune is universal, just like the reduction from the knights/ascalon piece (so you only need one piece equipped).
The shield, even if you're not struck from the front (where only the defense for a shield is calculated) the damage reduction from a shield is counted.

ok, that's what I thought. I kept hearing that the Absorption Rune was effected by hit locations, but that just didn't add up.
Thanks.

You can test it pretty easily:
Buy another piece of the same armor* your rune is in, and the compare damage taken with the runed one and the unruned one on. Find a monster that hits random locations for the same damage and just throw on Mending and watch numbers. The Charr Rangers outside Grendich Courthouse use Ignite Arrows, which, by my testing, is locational and always the same damage per hit.
*Buy the Droknar's equivalent if you have 15k armor. Stats are the same and it's cheaper. If you care about PVE, win.
